Leadership Team

Tim Mattke is the chief executive officer of MGIC Investment Corporation and MGIC. He joined the company in 2006. Prior to his appointment as CEO, he served as our executive vice president and chief financial officer from 2014 to 2019, our controller from 2009 to 2014, and held other positions within the Accounting and Finance departments from 2006 to 2009. Before joining MGIC, Mr. Mattke was an audit manager with PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP. He holds a bachelor’s in business administration and an MA in accountancy from the University of Wisconsin–Madison; he is also a CPA.

Sal Miosi is the president and chief operating officer of MGIC Investment Corporation and MGIC. He joined the company in 1988. Prior to his appointment as president and COO, he served as MGIC’s executive vice president of business strategies and operations from 2017 to 2019, as senior vice president of business strategies and operations from 2015 to 2017, and as vice president of marketing from 2004 to 2015, and in a variety of leadership positions in technology, sales and marketing divisions prior to these roles. Mr. Miosi holds a BBA from the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee and an MBA from Marquette University.

Nathan Colson is an executive vice president and the chief financial officer of MGIC Investment Corporation and MGIC. He joined the company in 2014. Prior to his appointment as CFO, he served as vice president of finance from January 2019 through July 2019, as assistant treasurer from 2016 to 2019, and in positions within MGIC’s Risk Management department. Before joining MGIC, Mr. Colson was a senior audit manager with PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP. He holds a BS in accounting from Marquette University and an MBA from the University of Chicago; he is also a CPA.

Paula Maggio is an executive vice president and the general counsel and secretary of MGIC Investment Corporation and MGIC. She joined the company in 2018. Before joining MGIC, Ms. Maggio served in the same role for two years at Retail Properties of America, Inc., and she served for 15 years in various leadership positions at Strategic Hotels & Resorts, Inc. Previously, she was in private practice with the law firm Altheimer & Gray. She holds a BA and JD from the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign.

Danny Garcia-Velez is MGIC’s senior vice president of sales and business development. He joined the company as a senior marketing program manager in 2017. Prior to his appointment as an SVP in 2023, he served as VP of business development. Before joining MGIC, Mr. Garcia-Velez was the VP of programs and counseling for the Homeownership Preservation Foundation (HPF). He holds a BS in urban planning from Metropolitan State University.

Annette Adams is a senior vice president and the chief human resources officer of MGIC. She joined the company in 2020. Before joining MGIC, Ms. Adams spent 19 years at Kohl’s Department Stores as an HR leader with several progressive responsibilities. She holds a BS in finance from the University of Wisconsin–Whitewater and received an eMBA from the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee in 2020.

Michael Jacobson is MGIC’s senior vice president of business intelligence and product strategy. He joined the company in 2018 as its VP of corporate development and became its VP of product strategy in 2019. Prior to joining MGIC, Mr. Jacobson began his career at Milliman, Inc., where he held positions of increasing responsibility in financial analysis and client engagement. He holds a BS in mathematics and philosophy from the University of Wisconsin–Madison and an MBA from the University of Chicago.

Robert Candelmo is a senior vice president and the chief information officer of MGIC. He joined the company in 2014 as chief technology officer and was promoted to CIO in 2019. Before joining MGIC, Mr. Candelmo held senior leadership positions within the IT organizations of several leading financial institutions, including SunTrust Bank and MetLife. He holds a BS in computer science from Kean College.

Dianna Higgins is the senior vice president of investor relations for MGIC Investment Corporation and MGIC. She began her career with MGIC in 1996. Prior to her appointment as SVP of investor relations, she served as VP of internal audit from 2018-2022; before then, she held positions of increasing responsibility and leadership in the Risk Management and Audit departments. Ms. Higgins holds a BA in accounting from Lakeland College; and she is a CPA.
